CMV "ALIANCA GAVEA"

Spring 2009 I joined "ALIANCA GAVEA" in the capacity 3rd Officer. This was only her charter name. Belonging to the German company Hansa Shipping her real name was "HANSA VICTORY", named after the owner's daughter Victoria. She was then in a long term charter with the German company Hamburg Süd, which operated her on a South America-North America route what later was changed to a Nothern Europe-Mediterranean service. We called  the Brazilian ports Rio Grande del Sul, Paranagua, Itajai, Santos, Suape, San Salvador and Navegantes, Cartagena/Colombia, Atlamira and Vera Cruz /Mexico, Houston/USA, Hamburg/Germany, Rotterdam/Netherlands, Antwerp/Belgium, Valencia/Spain, Alexandria/Egypt, Beirut/Lebanon, Lattakia/Syria, Mersin and Izmir/Turkey and Salerno/Italy. The crew consisted of 24 people. While all ratings we from the Philippines the officers were European. They were from Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Estonia, Poland and Germany.  As you can see we did not only work together, but also had a barbeque from time to time. I really enjoyed the work and life on the container ships - though I must say that I enjoy smaller ships more.
