M/S "YVONNE"
After
2 1/2 years on sailing ships I returned to cargo ships. February
2012 I
signed on as chief mate on M/S "YVONNE". The ship belongs to the ice
runner 3650 class. This is a so called mini
bulker, what describes a coaster optimized for 3650 tons of dry bulk
cargoes. She is operated by the Hamburg based André
Wieczorek Shipping Company. The
ship trades mainly in Northern Europe and regularly calls ports in
Sweden and Finland. The first voyage was to Lulea in the Bay of
Bothnia. There could not have been a greater difference to my previous
job. Sailing in the Baltic ice instead of enjoying Caribbean easy
life.
